The Minister of Education, Noureddine Nouri, announced Monday that 30% of the country’s educational establishments have benefited from renovation and maintenance work, while 13 new establishments have been created as part of national efforts to improve educational infrastructure.
During a working visit to several schools and high schools in the governorate of Nabeul, the minister explained that this tour aims to assess the level of maintenance, new achievements and the urgent needs of the sector. He affirmed that the findings collected on the ground will make it possible to make the necessary decisions to resolve the difficulties observed in certain regions.
Digital modernization and territorial equity
Noureddine Nouri also highlighted the progress of the “Edunet 10” program, which made it possible to connect the majority of educational establishments to high-speed Internet. Schools have been equipped with modern IT equipment to strengthen laboratories and specialist rooms, with the aim of reducing regional disparities and ensuring equal opportunities for all students.
Oral exams: extended deadlines
The minister highlighted the development of technological education in primary schools, emphasizing the importance of allowing students to put their manual and sensory skills into practice. This orientation aims to replace standardized school work sold commercially with more creative and educationally supervised activities within establishments.
Finally, Noureddine Nouri announced the extension of the period of oral exams for the primary level, now spread over a full month, in order to alleviate the pressure exerted on students and their parents during this evaluation period.
Priorities for the next decade
The Minister of Education, Noureddine Nouri, presented on October 14, during a plenary session held in the presence of the President of the National Council of Regions and Districts Imed Derbali, the broad outlines of the ministry’s 2026-2030 strategic plan.
During this session, the minister announced the mobilization of an envelope of 400 million dinars (MD) intended for the rehabilitation of educational establishments and the improvement of their infrastructure.
This envelope should be used to create 17 new establishments (8 primary schools, 7 middle schools and 1 high school), the rehabilitation of 325 schools, the construction of 106 fences and the installation of 71 prefabricated classrooms.
