The Tunisian national company has a strategic plan to strengthen the availability of its fleet, improve the quality and safety of its services, and open new lines in order to capture more market share.
The Minister of Transport, Rachid Amri, chaired on Wednesday September 17, 2025 a meeting at the headquarters of Tunisair dedicated to the establishment of a New sales program. He fixed a period of fifteen days to establish a covering of actions covering maintenance, air operations, quality and safety. Specialized teams will be created to supervise their progressive implementation.
The objective is double: to ensure optimal technical and logistical preparation for the next tourist season and strengthen the presence of Tunisair on the market, by increasing the volume of passengers transported and by widening the network by new destinations.
A pressure company
The minister insisted on the need to better manage financial, human and logistical resources According to clear priorities. He also underlined the importance of fluid coordination between the different structures of the Tunisair group, with a circulation of transparent and precise information, in order to facilitate diagnostics and decisions.
In this context, he called to prevent repetition of failures and to intervene quickly to correct them, declaring:
“Air transport is a sensitive and highly competitive sector. The quality of services and security must remain priorities, as is the confidence of customers and partners ”.
The Minister also praised Tunisian skills in the field of air navigation and the assets available to the national company. According to him, better valuation of these resources is essential To overcome the difficulties and allow Tunisair to regain its international influence.
A net deficit of 335 MD at the end of 2021
Remember that The consolidated financial statements of the Tunisair group, arrested on December 31, 2021reveal a deficit net result of 335 million dinars (MD) and a negative cash variation of 41 MD, for a net total of the 2089 MD balance sheet.
Tunisair’s turnover recorded an increase of 8% in the second quarter of 2025, reaching 403.7 MD, thanks to the increase in the number of passengers transported, which exceeded 660,000 people.
The national company generated 728 MD of income from transport during the 1st half of 2025an increase of 4% compared to the same period of 2024. In parallel, the filling rate won 3.6 points, reaching 74.8% at the end of June 2025, against 71.2% a year earlier during this period.
Despite this improvement in performance indicators, the number of passengers transported decreased by 1.5%, falling to 1,155,997 travelers.
Chronic disorganization
But Tunisair, who seeks to treat his image, crumbles under A punctuality crisis : Since the beginning of June, thefts have been canceled without notice, significant delays are accumulating, and passengers are left behind in airports.
The Tu-999 Nice-terminal flight of June 30 illustrates this situation: 150 travelers, including children and the elderly, learn late that their flight is canceled-no spare solution, no accommodation, no support provided.
Despite Official promises – of the president who demanded a company “symbol of national pride” and announcements according to which “the number of planes able to fly has doubled” – the reality is quite different: structural defects persist. As for passengers, they express their fed up. On social networks.
