In a context of increasing pressure on the quality of airport services, Tunisair Handling, a 100 % subsidiary of the Tunisair national company, has started a large program to modernize its servitude equipment. Improving the efficiency of ground operations and meeting the expectations of an increasingly demanding customers, promises to be the first objective.
Since the start of 2025, several equipment has been delivered and integrated into the company’s daily operations. Among them are buses intended for the transport of passengers, electric generators, lifting platforms, air starting units, as well as trolleys for handling baggage, pallets and containers. Passenger stairs are also part of this renewal.
A second delivery phase is scheduled from June 2025. This will include specialized vehicles (water, sanitary facilities), treadmills for luggage, a vehicle suitable for people with reduced mobility as well as mobile air conditioning units. Other acquisitions are being negotiated, such as luggage tractors and tractors for moving planes on the ground.
According to officials of Tunisair Handling, the choice of equipment was made taking into account international environmental standards, for the sake of sustainability.
This modernization comes as the Tunisian air transport sector is struggling to get the effects of the pandemic and faces many criticisms concerning the punctuality of thefts and the quality of the ground services. For Tunisair Handling, it is therefore a strategic investment aimed at strengthening its competitiveness, but also to restore the confidence of users.
