In a context marked the pressing expectations of the population, the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, reaffirmed the firm will of the State to implement an ambitious and global social policy. This is what emerges from his meeting, Wednesday, May 28, with the head of the government, Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, at the Palais de Carthage.
The head of state insisted that this social orientation is not an option, but a national necessity. “The State is resolved to concretize the will of the people,” he said, stressing that future policies should no longer be thought of in a sectoral or fragmentary manner. For him, it is now a question of approaching social issues in an integrated approach, which takes into account the collective destiny of the nation.
A deep reform of the legal framework
One of the central points of this interview was the announcement of new legislative measures in favor of social justice. The president notably mentioned a draft decree aimed at prohibiting what he described as “administrative slavery”, referring to forms of precariousness, abuse and inequitable treatment which remain in certain administrations and public enterprises.
This decree will complete a revision of the labor code already started, and should, according to the president, offer more guarantees to workers: employment security, respect for professional dignity, and fight against forms of institutionalized exploitation.
“When the worker feels stable and assured that his rights will not be raped, he provides more efforts. This is how a strong economy and a climate of healthy investment is built, “said Kais Saied, directly connecting social rights to national economic performance.
Elite responsibility and renewal
The president also sent a clear warning to those responsible who, according to him, do not pay their functions in the interest of the country. He denounced opportunistic attitudes within the administration, calling for a generational and moral renewal of the elites.
“Those who consider their mission as a personal springboard must fade. It is time to trust youth, who is able to work with honesty and innovate in the common interest, “he said, evoking a generational succession aligned with fundamental national choices.
