The Minister of State and Land Affairs, Wajdi Hedhili, announced Tuesday, April 22, 2025 that the work of the commission responsible for the liquidation of the property of the Democratic Constitutional Rally (RCD), a party dissolved in 2011, lasted more than necessary. He thus proposed to definitively close this file and to quickly return the real estate concerned to the domain of the State.
“All properties belonging to the old party are gradually transferred to the state,” said the minister, adding that in a few months, the activities of the Confiscation Commission will end. It will then be the official closure of the liquidation file for assets and values linked to the RCD.
At the same time, Wajdi Hedhili indicated that the remaining collective land liquidation process was also going to accelerate. A bill has been prepared to revise the legislation in force on this subject, on the basis of the work carried out by a multipartite steering committee under the aegis of the ministry.
The Minister also specified that a draft decree relating to confiscation is being developed. It aims to centralize all the structures concerned within the Ministry of Finance, by creating a single commission responsible for both the confiscation and the management of the property recovered.
