Tunisian Minister of Tourism, Sofiene Tekaia, received a delegation from the Italian Tourism and Hotel Federation, led by the Italian Ambassador to Tunis. This meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of training and employment in the tourism, hotel and catering professions.

The Minister praised the advancement of the project of the Afro-Mediterranean Institute for Training in Tourism Trades, which aims to prepare young Tunisians for the new market requirements. He also insisted on the quality of Tunisian skills, recognized internationally, and expressed the wish to expand cooperation with Italy, in particular in terms of recognition of diplomas and trade.

The Italian ambassador, for his part, has underlined the professionalism of Tunisians working in the tourism sector and has reaffirmed the interest of Italy to continue this collaboration, in particular to meet the growing needs of the Italian market in qualified labor in hotels and restaurants.

The two parties agreed to launch a Tunisian-Italian cooperation program in the tourism sector. An agreement between the Tunisian Tourism Training Agency and the Italian part is in preparation, with components on the exchange of experts, the creation of diversified training and the integration of young Tunisian graduates in the Italian labor market.

Among the other announced measures are the integration of the learning of the Italian language in Tunisian courses and the organization of joint tourist and cultural events, intended to highlight the respective heritage of the two countries and to strengthen their strategic partnership in the Mediterranean basin.
