The Minister of Industry, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, chaired on August 6 a working meeting devoted to the Tunisian-Indian fertilizer company (Tifert), in the presence of representatives of the Tunisian chemical group, the Gafsa phosphates company, the Indian partner and a specialized consulting firm.
Faced with the financial and technical difficulties of the company, several scenarios have been studied to ensure its revival. The restructuring plan provides in particular for the modernization of equipment, strengthening productivity, securing facilities and preserving some 630 jobs.
The meeting also made it possible to take stock of the work in progress in the cooling unit, affected by a fire on May 28. The Minister called for strengthening security in the units and accelerating reforms, in close coordination with all partners.
Entry into production in 2013, the TIFERT is a strategic project with Tunisian (70 %) and Indian (30 %) capital, operating in the chemical fertilizer sector.
