The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, called for an urgent and innovative diversification of sources of financing of the main social funds in Tunisia. This strategic orientation was given on Monday afternoon, during an interview at the Palais de Carthage with the Minister of Social Affairs, Issam Lahmar.
According to a press release from the presidency, the Head of State has given his instructions in order to develop new financing formulas for the National Pension and Social Provident Fund (CNRPS), the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) and the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM). The objective is to strengthen their financial viability and ensure the sustainability of social benefits in a context marked by strong budgetary tensions.
This meeting was also an opportunity to address the laws framing professional relations. On this subject, President Saïed insisted on the need to establish a just system guaranteeing workers’ rights, valuing them and ensuring them a feeling of security. He said justice and equity constitute the essential pillars of development and stability.
“Without social justice, there can be no lasting stability there,” he said, stressing that the reform of the legal framework for work must be part of a broader vision of a protective state of fundamental rights.
“The people aspire to a social state which preserves the dignity of their citizens, and they will have it,” he concluded.
