The Secretary of State for the Energy Transition, Wael Chouchane, received his Bavarian counterpart this Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Tobias Gothardt, visiting Tunis. The meeting was held in the presence of the German ambassador, Elisabeth Wolbers, the CEO of STEG, Fayçal Trifa, and officials of the two countries.
The discussions focused on strengthening energy cooperation between Tunisia and Bavaria, particularly in terms of modernization of the Tunisian electrical network to integrate more renewable energies. The German delegation, accompanied by Frank Messerer, Director General of Energy Policy and Research, has expressed interest in innovative projects promoting the energy transition and the reduction of carbon emissions.
Tobias Gothardt praised the progress made by Tunisia in the sector and expressed the desire to develop a solid partnership. He underlined the potential for economic and technological exchanges between the two territories.
Bavaria, the first German region in terms of GDP, 13 million inhabitants, is distinguished by its industrial dynamism and its advanced research infrastructures, with 17 platforms dedicated to advanced technologies.
