The director general of the Tunisian National Tourism Office, Mohamed Mehdi Helloui, said in an interview with Mosaic radio that the ministry’s assessment concerning the tourist season, until the end of June 2025, is very positive. He indicated that the number of visitors exceeded 4.3 million tourists, recording an increase of 11 % compared to 2024.
He added that tourism income also experienced an increase of more than 8 % until June 30, 2025, stressing that the tourism sector occupies first place in terms of currency reserves injected into the national economy.
Despite these encouraging figures, Helloui insisted that the stake is not limited to volumes, but also includes the quality of services and customer satisfaction. He said that control and follow -up teams operate on the ground to supervise tourism and hotel establishments.
Regarding the study day devoted to the development of the 2026-2030 tourism development plan, Helloui said that the five scheduled workshops will help define new guidelines, in particular in a context of increased international competition, evolution of promotion and opening methods.
He also stressed the importance of supervising proposals and transforming them into concrete policies adopted by the State, by implementing them through adequate laws. He insisted that ideas must emanate from local and regional levels.
