The Djerba-Zarzis tourism area stands out as the first destination in the country, alone concentrating a quarter of the overnight stays on a national level, according to the declarations of the regional delegate to Médenine tourism, Hichem Mahouachi.

The latter highlighted the vitality that the region is currently experiencing, evoking optimistic forecasts for the current tourist season. To this end, around 1.3 million tourists are expected by the end of October, with nearly 5,700 regular and non-regular flights operated since and to Djerba-Zarzis International Airport. The offer also extends to new markets, such as that of Bosnia, with a weekly link now scheduled.

According to the figures provided by Mahouachi to the Tunis Africa Press agency (TAP), the region recorded, between the beginning of the year and May 31, an increase of 19.7 % of arrivals and 15.7 % of the number of nights compared to the same period of the previous year.

The destination continues to attract its traditional markets, starting with France, followed by Germany, Poland, then the Tunisian market. Other countries, such as Algeria, Libya, the Czech Republic or even Belgium, also constitute promising markets for the region.
