Mandated by the President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed, the head of the Sarra government Zaafrani Zenzri made an official visit to Yokohama from August 18 to 22, 2025, in order to participate in the 9th International Conference of Tokyo on the development of Africa (Ticad 9), organized under the theme “Cooperate to find innovative solutions with Africa”.
According to an official statement, the government’s heading will take part in the work of this summit alongside the Japanese Prime Minister and several African heads of state and government.
His agenda also provides a series of bilateral meetings with the Japanese authorities and African officials.
The Presidency of the Government stresses that this participation is of particular importance for Tunisia, which intends to actively contribute to the development of a common vision of African development, based on a participatory and integrated approach.
The Ticad, initiated by Japan in 1993, is an international framework for dialogue and partnership in favor of the development of Africa. Tunisia had already welcomed the 8th edition of this conference on August 27 and 28, 2022 in Tunis, an event that had marked an important step in strengthening Tunisian-Japanese and Afro-Japanese links.
This visit illustrates Tunis’ desire to play an active role in Afro-Japanese cooperation and strengthen its strategic positioning in Africa.
