Tunis court of first instance decided, this Monday, May 19, to postpone the examination of the Taieb Rached affair to June 9, at the request of the defense.
The former high magistrate, in detention since February 12, 2023, appeared in arrest, alongside several accused, including a former magistrate and businessmen, notably Néjib Ben Ismail.
Taieb Rached, who has long held the highest position in the Tunisian judiciary, is prosecuted for serious accusations: corruption, falsification of official documents and use of false.
His pre -trial detention, ordered by the 10th accusation chamber of the Tunis Court of Appeal, had marked a turning point in a case which highlights the drifts supposed at the top of the judicial system.
