After an aborted attempt to reach Rafah to symbolically break the blockade on Gaza, the Soumoud caravan begins its return to Tunisia, marked by the security obstacles and the refusal of access to the Egyptian authorities.
The Soumoud caravan, mobilized to denounce the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, resumed the return to the return after ten days of roaming through Libya on Wednesday, June 18. Starting from Zliten in the morning, she planned a lunch stop in Tadjourah before continuing to Jadda’im, where a dinner followed by a discussion circle will bring together the participants.
According to the coordination of the joint action for Palestine, the caravan will then join the border post of Ras Jedir before finding the Tunisian territory. She will go through Gabès, Sfax, Sousse, to finally join Tunis.
Leaving on June 9, 2025 with Rafah for destination, on the border between Egypt and Gaza, the caravan was stopped on June 12 at the entrance to Syrte by the security forces and the Libyan east army. The members were then forced to fall back to a secure place near Misrata, suspending their progress.
The departure of the Caravan of the Libyan territory was conditioned on the release of all those arrested, which was obtained on Tuesday. The next day, the convoy resumed its journey towards Tunisia.
Faced with the refusal of the Egyptian authorities to let them cross the Rafah border post, coordination announced on Monday, June 17, its decision to put an end to the journey, while affirming its desire to seek other means of action to support the Palestinian cause.
