On a visit to Kasserine this Friday, April 25, 2025, the Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, announced that the Kasserine regional hospital will be officially transformed into a university hospital. This decision will be formalized on the occasion of his tour in the governorate.
The Minister said that the establishment already includes nine university services covering several medical specialties. He was ambitious, saying that “Kasserine’s university hospital will be one of the best” in the country. People’s surgical interventions, such as corneal and kidney transplants, will soon be practiced there, making this hospital “a model to follow”, in its terms.
In addition, Mustapha Ferjani said he was dissatisfied with the slowness that marked the construction of the Sbeïtla regional hospital, accusing an “administrative bureaucracy” and the “negligence of the contracting company”. The project, launched ten years ago, experienced long delays. The Minister said that after the termination of the contract with the former service provider, solutions were found. The remaining work should be completed within four months, thanks to a direct agreement with new stakeholders.
In the SBIBA delegation, where he laid the first stone of a new regional type B hospital, the minister announced that the infrastructure should be finalized within 20 months.
He also revealed the allowance of 400 thousand dinars for the construction of a dispensary in Khanguet El Jazia, in the delegation of Hassi El Frid, as well as 2.2 million dinars for the modernization of the local Hassi El Frid hospital.
