The Order of Engineers denounces pressure and smear campaigns

The Order of Tunisian Engineers warns of practices considered worrying targeting several professionals across the country. He calls for better moral and legal protection for engineers in the exercise of their duties.

In a press release published this Friday, the Order of Tunisian Engineers expressed its deep concern about situations of professional pressure, defamation and unjustified accusations affecting several engineers in different regions of Tunisia.

Situations considered worrying

The Order indicates that it has identified cases described as alarming in several governorates, where engineers found themselves confronted with erroneous interpretations of the facts or attempts to attribute to them responsibilities which correspond neither to their technical missions nor to their legal obligations. These practices, according to the organization, reflect a lack of understanding of the real roles of engineers and the legal frameworks governing their activity.

The Order of Engineers strongly condemned any form of defamation, professional stigmatization or selective questioning of responsibilities. He insisted on the need to approach technical and scientific matters with rigor, objectivity and competence, particularly in the media treatment of these matters.

Call for strengthened moral and legal protection

In its press release, the Order called on the authorities concerned to guarantee effective moral and legal protection to engineers in the exercise of their functions.

It reaffirmed its commitment to defending its members against any attack on their reputation or any pressure deemed abusive, and to closely monitoring cases presenting professional or media abuses.
