The president of the Tunisian Federation of Travel and Tourism agencies, Ahmed Beltaïeb, estimated that the new law on checks “led to a 30 % drop in the turnover of travel agencies”, hoping that we will find alternative methods of recovery.
According to Beltaïeb, the last tourist season has generated revenue of around 7 billion dinars, according to data from the Central Bank of Tunisia. Professionals in the sector hope to maintain this reference figure by welcoming ten million visitors, while the Ministry of Tourism aims at a target of 11 million visitors for the current season.
On this subject, Beltaïeb said: “It is not difficult to achieve this objective, but the main thing is to preserve the indicators of the last season by working on the quality of the services”.
He added: “This year, we are looking for quality rather than quantity. Admittedly, we have proposed preferential rates, but we are targeting a tourist that generates better recipes, which is not difficult to reach if efforts are combined to improve services. ”
In addition, Beltaïeb revealed that there are indicators reporting the end of reservations from certain markets, pending confirmation of reservations from other markets.
