Arslane Ben Farhat, owner of the agricultural field “Henchir Ben Farhat” located in El Amra, in the governorate of Sfax, praised Friday April 4, 2025 on the waves of Mosaic FM the efforts made by the units of the National Guard, the Tunisian Red Crescent and Civil Society to convince a large number of migrants from sub-Saharan Africa agricultural, which they have occupied for more than two years.

According to him, the first migrants entered his field in 2023. They were around 300 at the start, before their number quickly multiplied to reach several thousand.

“They cut olive trees to use them as firewood, harvested the olives without authorization and prevented my workers from working. The estate has turned into a real village, “he said.

As a reminder, the spokesperson for the National Guard, Houssem Eddine Jebabli, confirmed to Mosaic FM that the evacuation operations of sub-Saharan migrant camps continue in the regions of El Amra and Jebiniana (governorate of Sfax), after their start on Thursday.

Still according to him, most of these migrants in an irregular situation have expressed their will to return voluntarily to their country of origin, after having failed to join Europe.

They thus addressed international organizations to guarantee their return. Currently, long queues are formed before the premises of the Red Crescent, the International Organization for Migration (OIM) and security services in Sfax, where these migrants hope to obtain temporary accommodation before their repatriation.
