The criminal chamber specializing in terrorism affairs with the Tunis Court of Appeal confirmed, on Friday, the judgment of first instance condemning Malek Dhaouadi in perpetuity prison for attempted murder with premeditation. The accused had tried to assassinate an agent of the police with the aid of a stabbing weapon.
Malek Dhaouadi is known for his membership of the terrorist organization Daesh. He was part of a cell specializing in hunting and targeted attack by members of the Tunisian security forces. The investigation revealed that he was in contact with terrorist elements affiliated with Katiba Ajnad al-Khilafa.
It should be recalled that Dhawadi was also sentenced to capital punishment for the assassination of a police officer in 2019 before the Bizerte Court of Appeal. The court also ordered him to pay 350,000 dinars of damages to the beneficiaries of the victim.
The terrorist also received another death sentence in a separate case, linked to an attempted murder aimed at a military officer stabbed in Bizerte.
