Teaching tensions: the secondary federation brings together its committee

Faced with the persistence of tensions between the Ministry of Education and the General Federation of Secondary Education, a union administrative commission of the union will be held on Tuesday May 13. This meeting must decide whether or not to maintain the face -to -date strike planned in colleges and high schools on May 28 and 29.

In a declaration to the TAP agency, Mohamed Essafi, Secretary General of the Federation, said that the Commission will also examine the recent decision of the ministry relating to the modification of the schedule for third quarter exams.

According to the union, the ministry would have reorganized the tests in order to neutralize the announced strike. According to the new circular, the deadline for control duties is set for May 10, except for baccalaureate classes. The main examinations will take place between May 15 and 28: the period from 15 to 21 being devoted to the “open week”, and that from May 22 to 28 at the “blocked week”.

Mohamed Essafi denounces an “improvised” measure and believes that a sincere dialogue would have been preferable. “The ministry seeks to bypass the social movement rather than responding to the demands of the sector,” he said.

Tuesday’s meeting could therefore mark a turning point in this union-union confrontation, in an increasingly tense climate when approaching the end of year exams.
