In a new medical feat, the pediatric surgery team at the Fattouma Bourguiba university hospital in Monastir has succeeded, in collaboration with a team from the Necker Hospital (France) and under the supervision of the National Center for the promotion of organ transplantation, to carry out a liver transplant on an 8 -year -old child, thanks to the gift of a hepatic lobe by his father.
The intervention, complex and meticulous, took place on Friday April 25, 2025 with the participation of many specialized medical and paramedical teams. It ended in total success. The child and his father are currently under rigorous medical follow -up and in the process of recovery.
This remarkable result confirms the position of Tunisia as a leading actor in the field of organ transplants, thanks to the competence of its doctors and the exemplary coordination between the different health teams.
