The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, chaired, on July 11, 2025, at the Palais de Carthage, a council of ministers devoted to the examination of two bills aimed at facilitating access to the property of social housing.
The first project changes law n ° 53 in 1977 relating to the social housing promotion company. It plans to introduce a mechanism allowing the sale to temperament or the rental-accession of social housing funded by the housing promotion fund. This measure aims to offer employees the possibility of acquiring their accommodation gradually, adapted to their income.
The second project completes the legal framework of the national real estate company in Tunisia, granting it the same right to sell the social housing it builds, in the same way.
These initiatives are part of a global social policy which seeks to guarantee the right to decent housing, in particular for citizens with modest and means income.
Beyond the bills, the Council of Ministers also discussed several draft orders relating to the fight against unemployment. President Kaïs Saïed insisted on the need for radical and effective solutions in the face of current socio-economic challenges.
