In a press release published on Saturday August 16, 2025, the Tunisia Transport Society (TransTU) announced that a new 34A line bus had a stone throw around 4:50 p.m. in the Sidi Hassine district, while driving to downtown Tunis. A young man launched the stones after going down from the vehicle, breaking a side window.
The TransTU immediately opened a report and used on-board cameras to record the incident. She transmitted the images to the security forces to identify those responsible. The company claims that it will defend its rights and continue the authors of vandalism in court.
It should be recalled that two days earlier, Thursday, August 14, 2025, a train from line 4 had been the target of a voluntary fire near the Slimane Kahia station. A group of children had lit papers and threw them between the seats, damaging part of the floor and electric cables under the benches.
These incidents raise the issue of public transport safety in Tunis. What measures could be put in place to prevent such acts in the future?
