Customs agents at the port of La Goulette foiled an attempt to bring into the territory nearly 100 kilograms of cannabis, carefully concealed in the trunk of a car transported on a ferry from a European country.
According to initial information, control teams spotted suspicious signs as the vehicle passed the scanner. A thorough inspection then revealed a particularly large quantity of cannabis resin, packaged and hidden in the rear compartment of the vehicle.
After the discovery of the illicit merchandise, the driver was placed in police custody on the instructions of the public prosecutor at the court of first instance of Tunis. The file was entrusted to the anti-narcotics sub-directorate of the judicial police in El Gorjani, responsible for investigating the destination of this cargo and identifying the members of the network involved in this smuggling operation.

This seizure is among the largest recently carried out at maritime entry points, confirming the intensification of attempts to transit drug shipments via Tunisia and the increased vigilance of specialized units.
