The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, received the Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, on Tuesday at the Carthage Palace, to examine the progress of hospital projects and the launch of the remote diagnostic center.

He took the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to guaranteeing all the rights of medical and paramedical personnel, while denouncing the abuses which have weakened the sector.

Monitoring of hospital projects

The Head of State reviewed, with the Minister of Health, the progress of work on several hospital establishments under construction across the country. According to the presidency, the meeting also provided an opportunity to take stock of the operational start-up of the remote medical center.

This device, presented as a major advance, should allow patients to obtain a diagnosis without traveling, with prescriptions issued on the basis of an analysis carried out remotely.

Saïed promises to guarantee the rights of health personnel

During the same meeting, Kaïs Saïed affirmed that doctors, paramedics and all health workers “will have all their rights”, stressing that the legal system in place for decades has led to a situation that has become “unacceptable”.

He insisted on the need to rebuild a “annihilated” public health sector, so that it is accessible to all, in all regions.

An offensive speech against corruption and abuses

In a video published by the presidency, Saïed castigated “the charlatans” and those who, according to him, “claim to know”, saying that they only bring disorder and corruption.

He reaffirmed that he was leading “a war of liberation on all fronts” to eradicate networks of corruption and meet the expectations of the people in all sectors.

The president finally praised the dedication of the medical and paramedical staff, recalling the excellence of the internationally recognized “Tunisian medical school”.

He stressed that Tunisia exports its skills to many countries, evoking the historical role of doctors – women and men – in the national movement.
