The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, received the minister of Agriculture, hydraulic resources and maritime fishing, Mr. Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh, on October 6, 2025 at the Palais de Carthage, according to a press release from the presidency.
Their meeting focused on the preparation of the Exceptional olive harvestwith an expected record production thanks to the favorable rains after several years of drought.
Kaïs Saïed insisted on the need not to be limited to traditional markets for the marketing of Tunisian olive oil, in particular towards theAsia and South America. This initiative, let us recall, comes after the taxation, in August 2025, of American customs taxes on certain Tunisian products, including olive oil.
The president also underlined the importance of preparing the packaging Tunisian olive oil for export so that the product carries the Name of Tunisiathus strengthening its visibility and competitiveness on international markets.
Kaïs Saïed recalled that the food security is an integral part of national securityand insisted on supporting small farmers at all stages: harvesting, transformation and marketing.
He finally mentioned the need to Strengthen public agricultural officessome of which have declined over the years, and to restore their strategic role in supporting Tunisian agriculture.
Always faithful to its anti-carpet leitmotif, Kaïs Saïed concluded:
