President Kaïs Saïed received the head of government, Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, at the Carthage palace. The meeting focused on the functioning of the executive and the state of public services. The Head of State insisted on coherent government action, focused on the fight against corruption and the preservation of public funds.
Fight against corruption and end of impunity
During this interview, Kaïs Saïed discussed several issues related to the monitoring of government work and the functioning of different public services. He stressed the need for total coordination between institutions and coherent management, considering that certain public structures have not yet integrated the “new phase” initiated by the State in the fight against corruption and administrative reform.
According to the presidency, Saïed recalled that the objective of the State is no longer to pursue individuals but to firmly attack mechanisms of corruption, the squandering of public funds and all practices that hinder the transparent management of public affairs.
Responsibility, integrity and rejection of interference
He also denounced the actors who, according to him, wrongly present themselves as “victims”, when they themselves are involved in creating a climate of rampant corruption. The president insisted on the need for those in office to embody integrity, altruism and absolute rejection of any external influence or attempt at interference.
This declaration reinforces the guideline displayed for several months by the presidency: cleaning up the administration, strengthening the discipline of institutions and imposing an ethical reading of the exercise of public responsibility. It also takes place in a context where several issues of governance, reforms and management of public services are the subject of increased attention.
