Rana Taha takes office as UN resident coordinator in Tunisia

The Jordanian Rana Taha officially took office as a resident coordinator of the United Nations in Tunisia, after having presented her letters of debt, this Monday, June 23, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti.

Appointed by the Secretary General of the United Nations on June 19, 2025, Ms. Taha took office by affirming the renewed commitment of the UN to support Tunisia in the implementation of its national priorities, in particular within the framework of sustainable development. During her interview with the head of Tunisian diplomacy, she insisted on the importance of strengthening the partnership between the UN system and Tunisia.

With an experience of more than twenty years in the United Nations, Rana Taha held several high -level positions in the fields of development, peacekeeping and regional coordination. Before her appointment in Tunis, she was a team leader and principal advisor for peace and development in Kenya.

It also carried out strategic coordination functions at the United Nations headquarters between 2015 and 2019, notably supervising the regional program for the Middle East and North Africa. It was stationed in several sensitive areas: Lebanon, Sudan and occupied Palestinian territories.

She graduated in international relations, public policies and sociology.
