Tunisia is preparing to experience a meteorological episode marked by a clear deterioration of climatic conditions, with sometimes heavy rains, a gradual drop in temperatures and snowfall expected on the reliefs, according to forecasts from the National Institute of Meteorology.
Speaking Monday morning on national radio, the engineer at the National Institute of Meteorology, Abderrazak Rahal, indicated that the weather would be partly to heavily cloudy this Monday, with light rain expected at first, before affecting the south-western regions during the night.
Stormy rains and snow on the heights
Temperatures will remain slightly above seasonal norms, oscillating between 14 and 19 degrees in the coastal regions, the west of the country and Cap Bon, and between 20 and 24 degrees in the rest of the regions.
From Tuesday, the clouds should become denser, accompanied by scattered rain, sometimes stormy, especially during the night. According to the same forecasts, this precipitation could be locally significant.
A gradual drop in temperatures is also expected, with the possibility of snowfall late at night on the western heights of the north and center of the country.
Wednesday, a winter day marked by cold
Wednesday looks set to be particularly cold and decidedly wintry. Heavy rains are forecast, especially in the far northwest of the country, while temperatures will see a notable drop.
In high mountainous areas, the mercury could approach zero degrees, calling for vigilance, particularly for travel and activities in the affected regions.
