The president of Ennahdha Rached Ghannouchi, detained since April 2023, will appear tomorrow Tuesday before the Tunis court of first instance, alongside several executives of the Islamist movement.

According to the National Salvation Front, several figures of Ennahdha will be present at the hearing of September 30, 2025: the chief of staff of Ghannouchi, Ahmed Mechergui, the member of the Council of the Choura Youssef Ennouri, as well as the former deputies Belgacem Hassan and Mohamed Goumani, prosecuted in freedom. Also are in the Mohamed Cheniba file, Abdallah Esseghiri and Mouwaffak Bellah Kâabi.

The case originated in a conference on the Salvation Front, organized on April 15, 2023, during which Rached Ghannouchi had warned of “the danger of exclusion” on civil peace. Two days later, his home was searched and several Ennahdha officials arrested. All are prosecuted for “conspiracy against state security” under article 72 of the penal code.

Since his arrest, Rached Ghannouchi has been sentenced to heavy penalties in various files, including the so -called “taghout” affair, the installationo case and the so -called “plot 2” file. The former president of the Parliament refused to appear on several occasions, denouncing “political and unfair trials”.
