The Tunisia Ambassador to China met the Managing Director of Powarchina to advance the energy and infrastructure projects in progress, and promote Tunisia as a regional investment hub.
Tunisia and China continue to strengthen their economic cooperation, especially in the strategic sectors of energy, water and infrastructure. The Tunisia Ambassador to Beijing, Adel Arbi, recently received Xu Degui, Managing Director of Powarchina, a global giant of renewable energies and major works, to take stock of the ongoing projects and explore new perspectives of collaboration.
The meeting, which also assisted the diplomat Mohamed Chadi Ballout, in charge of the economic file, and Aymen Derbali, Tunisian expert in China, made it possible to examine the progress of the projects that Powarchina is currently supervising in Tunisia. Among the axes discussed: the development of new dams, the extension of solar energy capacities, as well as the production of large -scale infrastructure.
According to a press release from the Tunisia Embassy in China published this Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the Tunisian party highlighted the recent legislative reforms facilitating investment, with an emphasis on tax incentives, administrative simplifications and the advantages granted to foreign partners. These measures aim to position Tunisia as a privileged access platform for Maghreb, European and African markets.
For his part, Powarchina was interested in strengthening his presence on Tunisian territory and by the possibility of exporting his expertise through regional projects in partnership with Tunisia.
This meeting is part of a wider strategy of economic diplomacy initiated by Tunis, which seeks to attract more foreign direct investments (IDE) and to diversify its partnerships with major industrial powers.
