The defense committee of political leaders detained in the so-called “conspiracy against state security” case announced that the appeal hearing will take place on Monday, October 27, remotely and without the physical presence of the accused.
According to the press release published Friday, the lawyers denounce a “rushed and opaque” decision: the date of the hearing would not have been entered in the register until 2 p.m. the same day, preventing the defense from informing the detainees during their visits to prison. The committee sees this as a continuation of “procedural maneuvers” already noted during the trial at first instance.
The charges against the accused relate in particular to the attack on the internal and external security of the State, the establishment of a terrorist conspiracy, the premeditated act aimed at changing the form of government or incitement to violence between citizens.
