The Office of the Assembly of People’s Representatives met this Thursday to examine several major files, including the draft Finance Law for the year 2026. At the end of the session, the Office decided to transmit the project to the Finance and Budget Committee, while generalizing it to all standing committees, so that they prepare to examine the various missions and sectoral budgets that will be submitted to them.

Under the chairmanship of Ibrahim Bouderbala, the Office also distributed the missions and special missions of the 2026 draft state budget between the committees concerned, a crucial step before the official launch of parliamentary debates.

Furthermore, the deputies discussed at length the critical situation in Gabès, where tensions and protests persist due to the environmental degradation caused by the production units of the chemical complex. Faced with the urgency of the situation, the Office decided to organize a dialogue session with the head of government, or her representative, on Monday October 20, 2025.

This meeting is intended to be “a gesture of solidarity and support for the inhabitants of Gabès” and aims to engage in direct dialogue with the executive to identify rapid and lasting solutions, putting an end to what Parliament describes as “environmental disasters”.

The Bureau also examined the written questions sent by deputies to members of the government and authorized the transmission of 101 questions to the ministers concerned.

Finally, it was decided to convene the Conference of Presidents on Friday October 24, 2025 from 10 a.m., and to address several issues linked to the international activity of Parliament.
