Tunis welcomed, on Monday, the first edition of the Ooredoo Ai Summit, a meeting bringing together political decision -makers, business leaders, startups and technological experts around a central issue: accelerating the digital transition of Tunisia thanks to artificial intelligence.

The event was marked by the presence of the Minister of Communication Technologies, Sofiene Hemissi, of the CEO of the Ooredoo group, Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, and international leaders of the group.

AI as a lever of sovereignty and growth

At the opening, Minister Sofiene Hemissi insisted on the strategic dimension of artificial intelligence for Tunisia:

“Strengthen digital sovereignty, empower young people and stimulate inclusive growth”.

He praised the Ooredoo initiative, which positions Tunisia as a major player in the regional ecosystem.

For his part, Mansoor Rashid al-Khater, CEO of Ooredoo Tunisia, announced a clear ambition:

“In Ooredoo, we believe that artificial intelligence is a powerful lever for inclusion, innovation and progress. Our ambition is to place Tunisia at the center of the world digital revolution by investing in infrastructure ready for AI, by supporting startups and businesses, and by collaborating with world leaders such as NVIDIA to build a robust and turned ecosystem. »»

A strategic alliance with NVIDIA

Strong moment of the summit: Ooredoo has formalized its partnership with Nvidia for the acquisition of High Performance GPU. This infrastructure will offer startups, government and professional customers access to sovereign capacities of IA-A-A-Service. Objective: stimulate innovation and accelerate the launch of new services on the Tunisian market.

Key figures of the ecosystem have taken part in the panels, including Karim Beguir (Instadeep), who shared his innovation journey “Made in Tunisia”, and Ahmed Mostafa (NVIDIA), which highlighted the importance of democratizing access to AI. Google, Decathlon, Lloyd Insurance, UBCI and other actors have enriched the debate on the governance, sustainability and economic opportunities of AI in Tunisia.

A roadmap for the future

Ooredoo has announced a series of initiatives: hackathons, training programs, thematic days on vertical AI and collaborative projects with local institutions. Already, the operator deploys cases of use of agentic AI in its services, a first in Tunisia.
