Tunisia ranked fourth in the world in 2024 in terms of olive oil export operations, said the Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Abid, this Monday, December 22, 2025.
This declaration was made on the occasion of an event dedicated to the presentation and promotion of the Tunisian olive oil sector, organized under the slogan “The day of diplomacy in the service of Tunisian olive oil”, at the headquarters of the International Diplomatic Academy.
The Minister of Commerce underlined that Tunisia succeeded, during the past season, in penetrating more than 60 markets spread over different continents, specifying that its share increased by more than 10% in the world market.
He also mentioned a profound transformation of the export model, moving from a logic based on volumes to an approach focused on value, as well as from an export based on raw materials to marketing under reliable and recognized Tunisian brands.
Progress in exports
Samir Abid indicated that Tunisia has recorded an increase in its exports of around 16% over the last five years, highlighting a notable qualitative change through the development of local processing and packaging capacities, the strengthening of traceability systems and compliance with international standards, the diversification of markets and the reduction of bulk olive oil exports.
The minister also recalled that Tunisian olive oil is distinguished by high quality and scientifically proven health value, also stressing that organic olive oil occupies an advanced position on a global scale.
