Tunisia expects exceptional olive oil production during the 2025-2026 campaign. The Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, announced this Monday that the harvest should reach 500,000 tonnes, an increase of 47% compared to the previous season.
A strategy focused on packaged olive oil
The announcement was made following the meeting of the National Council for Packaged Olive Oil, held at the ministry. The minister recalled that Tunisia has made notable progress in this segment:
- 1,300 tonnes exported in 2006-2007,
- 42,200 tonnes in 2024-2025.
The government intends to continue this effort by strengthening the presence of packaged olive oil on foreign markets, particularly in Asia, Latin America, Russia and the Gulf countries.
2025 and 2026 programs validated
The Council monitored the progress of the national promotional program for 2025 and validated the 2026 program intended to broaden the visibility of Tunisian olive oil. The Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Agriculture will be associated with this strategy to support the presence of Tunisian products in target markets.
The ministry also presented the support program for start-ups active in the export of packaged olive oil. This system will allow new operators to develop their capabilities, obtain the necessary certifications and strengthen their marketing and prospecting actions.
