The Director General of the International Organization for Migration (OIM), Amy Pope, makes a working visit to Tunisia on May 5 and 6, 2025. This mission is part of the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between Tunisia and OIM, in particular on matters related to migration, sustainable development and the involvement of diasporas.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amy Pope must meet several senior Tunisian officials to take stock of the progress of the joint programs already underway and identify new ways of collaboration in areas of shared interest.
Strong point of this visit: the participation of the UN official on Tuesday, May 6, in an international workshop organized in Tunis by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians abroad, in partnership with IOM. This workshop focuses on a strategic theme: “The contribution of diasporas to the promotion of investment and the realization of sustainable development”.
The event is a continuation of the orientations of the President of the Republic, which insists on the need to better supervise Tunisians abroad and to mobilize their skills and their investments in the service of national development.
This initiative is also involved in the preparations for the 15th World Forum on Migration and Development, planned this year in Barranquilla, Colombia.
The workshop will bring together high -level participants: government officials, international experts, representatives of international organizations and financial institutions, as well as influential personalities from the Tunisian diaspora.
