A direct flight between Monastir and Berne was inaugurated this Friday, May 30, 2025. Provided by the company Helvetic Airways, this weekly link connects Habib Bourguiba de Monastir airport to the Swiss capital, marking the return of this line after several years of interruption.
The first flight transported 82 Swiss tourists, accompanied by journalists, as part of a partnership with a Swiss travel agency. Objective: to strengthen the attractiveness of Tunisia, in particular the regions of the Sahel and Djerba.
Mélanie Lefebvre, director general of Tav Tunisia, told TAP the importance of this recovery for the visibility of the Tunisian destination on the Swiss market. For his part, Tobias Pogorevc, executive director of Helvetic Airways, praised the opening of this line, judging Monastir particularly suitable for the expectations of Swiss travelers.
According to Kamel Faint, commercial director of Star Airlines Services, this initiative is part of a tourism recovery strategy. He hopes that other links will follow, strengthening the positioning of Monastir Airport internationally.
The line will be active until October. Hakim Chemem, representative of the HAV company, believes that it will help to boost the tourist season. He also mentioned the prospects opened by the IATA summit, held in May in Nairobi, which made it possible to establish new contacts with companies and agencies from several countries in the South.
