The Tunisian organization of young doctors announced a national strike scheduled for today, Monday, April 21, 2025, in order to protest against the precariousness of their material conditions.
According to the vice-president of the organization, Bahaa Eddine Rabii, this mobilization aims to obtain recognition up to the efforts made by young practitioners, he announced yesterday, in a statement to the TAP agency.
The strike will impact all the hospital-university activities of medical students, internal and residents in university hospitals and the faculties of medicine across the country. Nevertheless, a minimum service will be maintained: hospital guards will be provided and medical emergencies will remain operational.
Among the main requests are the revaluation of scholarships and wages, currently located between 750 and 1250 dinars; Payment of unpaid childcare hours; The increase in the hourly day rate, estimated today between 1 and 3 dinars/hour.
Bahaa Eddine Rabii also announced the holding of simultaneous meetings at 11:00 am in the four medical faculties (Tunis, Sousse, Monastir, Sfax) in order to discuss potential additional dispute actions.
