The municipality of Tunis actively continues its plan to secure buildings threatening ruin. The director of the Town Hall Construction Department, Morched Basli, said that since the entry into force of the law relating to constructions presenting a risk of collapse, a new census and in -depth inspections have been carried out under the supervision of local, regional and governorate authorities.
Result: 1,100 buildings have been identified as an imminent or proven danger.
MORCHED BESLI told Mosaique FM that 513 of these buildings are considered a certain threat to public security, requiring urgent preventive measures. The majority of these dangerous constructions are in the medina of Tunis and the Bab Bhar district.
Among the latest notable interventions, the municipality proceeded a few days ago to the demolition of a dilapidated building located on rue El Pacha, in Bab Souika, whose state represented a real danger for passers -by.
