Tunisia is preparing to take a new step in the development of its energy industry. The Chinese company YJC Power, specializing in energy storage systems, has expressed its intention to create a lithium battery production unit intended for the local and regional market, in partnership with a Tunisian investor.

The announcement came during a meeting held Friday, November 28 at the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, under the chairmanship of Minister Fatma Thabet Chiboub, and in the presence of the Secretary of State in charge of energy transition, Waël Chouchane, as well as senior executives and representatives of organizations under supervision.

This project is part of the national strategy aimed at strengthening the local production of batteries and electronic solutions, in a global context marked by the growth of electric transport and the need to improve energy storage capacities. The installation of this unit should help boost the competitiveness of Tunisian industry while supporting its energy transition.

Industrial assets

The Chinese group praised the country’s industrial assets, the quality of its human skills and Tunisia’s strategic position as a manufacturing and export platform to European and African markets.

Founded in 2016, YJC Power specializes in smart solutions for renewable energy and the development of multi-use energy storage systems.
