This Monday, April 21, 2025, Ahmed Souab, lawyer and former administrative judge, was arrested at his home in Tunis. His son, Saeb Souab, told Webdo that the police intervention took place in the morning, around 10:00 am when a dozen agents broke into the family home.
According to Saeb Souab, his father was questioned in his home before being taken to the anti -terrorist judicial center. The exact nature of the accusations has not been specified.
Ahmed Souab is a lawyer recognized for his involvement in human rights affairs and his regular criticisms against the current regime. He is notably part of the defense committee in the “conspiracy against state security”.
For the time being, no official reaction has been given by the Tunisian authorities concerning the arrest of the lawyer.
