Justice has ordered the custody of two businessmen subject to a travel ban, as part of an investigation into an alleged attempt to flee abroad. The decision was taken by the public prosecutor’s office at the Kasserine court of first instance, reports TAP.
According to the spokesperson for the Kasserine courts and first deputy public prosecutor, Judge Imed Omri, the two suspects are suspected of having planned their illegal exit from the national territory, after the confessions of a smuggler who admitted his collaboration with them.
In a media statement given this Monday, the magistrate specified that the prosecution also decided to place the smuggler in question in custody as well as three other individuals suspected of being involved in this case. A fifth person has also been included on the list of wanted people.
Smugglers involved
The facts date back to the receipt of information by the research and investigation brigade of the National Guard in Fériana, reporting the possession, by a smuggler, of passports belonging to businessmen.
A search of his home led to the seizure of documents, with the suspect admitting to having provided the passports to the two men concerned in order to facilitate their escape.
Investigations are continuing in order to elucidate all the circumstances of the case and to identify all the parties involved, according to the same judicial source.
