The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, brought together on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at the Carthage Palace, the government’s chef, Sarah Zafferani Zenzri, the Minister of Finance, Mechkaât Salama Khaldi, as well as the Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh.
During this meetingthe Head of State has focused on several subjects, and more particularly on the conclusions of meetings recently held with the members of local and regional councils, upstream of the development of the summary report relating to regional, interregional and national development plans.
Kaïs Saïed demanded that the finance bill for next year faithfully reflects the results from these consultations. He recalled that this text cannot be limited to a compilation of figures and percentages, but that it must be the concrete expression of the choices of the Tunisian people in all areas. This project, he added, will then have to be presented to the Assembly of People’s Representatives and the National Council of Regions and Districts for approval.
The President stressed that the so -looking development model is already there, drawn by the popular will. He urged the institutions concerned to be fully inspired by it and to implement it without further delay.
True to her speech focused on social justice, Kaïs Saïed reaffirmed that Tunisia is full of wealth and resources, and that it will never be delivered to lobbies or their relays. He insisted on the importance of pursuing the efforts relentlessly so that no one remains marginalized or deprived of his rights.
In a firm tone, he warned against public officials who are neither austere nor empathic towards the suffering of the people, and who, instead of lifting obstacles, create more. According to him, these officials must give way to a committed youth, ready to lead a real national liberation battle to restore dignity and guarantee the right to a decent life to all Tunisians.
The president concluded by saying that the Tunisian people are writing a new page in their history, and that he is entitled to claim accounts for the suffering endured for decades. He wanted to specify that this requirement for accounting for accounts does not fall under a spirit of revenge, but of fair justice based on the law.
As for those who hope to go back, Saïed launched a clear message to them: “The Tunisian people are resolutely turned to the future. He gives lessons every day to those who have still not taken advantage of the errors of the past. And no rumor, no lie, no campaign funded from abroad or inside will weaken its determination. The future is closer than you think. »»
