Kaïs Saïed: “The people taught everyone a lesson”

On the occasion of the commemoration of the fifteenth anniversary of the outbreak of the Tunisian revolution, the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, affirmed that the Tunisian people sent, the day before, “clear messages guaranteed to reach their destination”, qualifying this mobilization as a real political lesson.

Speaking during his meeting with the head of government, Sara Zaafrani Zenzri, the head of state strongly criticized those he accuses of persisting in “lostness and confusion”.

According to him, the Tunisian state cannot be run “by publications on social networks nor by fabricated documents which only exist in the sick imagination of their authors”, believing that these actors are now “unmasked and exposed”.

Kaïs Saïed also insisted on the symbolic and historical significance of the commemoration day, describing it as a founding moment destined to be recorded “in golden letters” in the annals of national history. He stressed that the essence of this date lies in the continuation of the path traced by the Tunisian people “with their blood, their wounds and their hopes”.

The Revolution at the heart of the project

Reaffirming his political line, the President of the Republic insisted that no attack on national sovereignty could be tolerated. He also emphasized the need for accountability, in strict compliance with the law, believing that accountability constitutes a legitimate right of the Tunisian people in view of the injustices suffered, the looting of national wealth and the waste of the country’s resources.

Through this speech, Kaïs Saïed once again places the memory of the revolution at the heart of his political project, presenting it as a permanent reference to legitimize the choices of the State and justify the option of an assumed break with the practices of the past.
