The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, made a change at the head of the governorate of Ben Arous, following a visit not announced in several localities in the region, on the evening of Sunday, May 11, 2025.
This field tour, during which he noted several dysfunctions in terms of local management, led to the revocation of the Governor in office, Wissem Mraidi.
The decision was made public at the heart of the night, around 3 am, via the official Facebook page of the Presidency of the Republic, now a recurring vector of presidential communication.
Abdelhamid Boukadida, senior executive of the Tunisian administration, was appointed to take over. Its mission will be to restore local governance deemed defaulting by the Head of State. However, the presidency has provided no additional details on the shortcomings noted.
Wissem Mraidi held this function since September 8, 2024. He had been appointed as part of a large reshuffle which had affected all 24 governorates of the country. His succession comes in a context where Kaïs Saïed regularly affirms the need for exemplary local supervision, based on integrity, proximity to citizens and administrative efficiency.
