The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, received Monday at the Palais de Carthage the head of the government, Sarra Zaâfrani Zenzri. During this interview, he insisted on the urgency to initiate an in -depth reform of the functioning of public services, an essential condition for the success of any legislative reform.

According to a press release from the presidency, the Head of State stressed that Tunisia cannot be satisfied with new laws: their implementation requires, according to him, sincere women and men, honest and fully committed to the service of the country.

“The legislative revolution we call for our wishes necessarily involves a revolution in the management of public services,” he said, deploring many failures in the way these services are currently administered.

Kais Saied also denounced the attempts to division within the state apparatus. “There is only one Tunisian state, not two,” he said, accusing certain parts of sowing trouble. He warned that all those involved will be continued in accordance with the law.

Recalling the principles set out in the Constitution, the president insisted on the role of public administration, called upon to serve all citizens in all neutrality and on an equal footing. “Any form of discrimination based on any belonging constitutes a crime liable to sanctions,” he said.

Finally, Kais Saied pleaded for a unified national vision in the processing of major files, believing that sectoral approaches, although short -term use, do not allow to respond to the global challenges of the country.

He reaffirmed his desire to continue the reforms in order to meet the legitimate expectations of the Tunisian people, stressing that the country has precious skills that should be mobilized in a renewed spirit.
