The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, reiterated, Friday, April 11, 2025, his call for the adoption of new laws which mark a clear and final break with the practices of the past. This declaration was made during his meeting with the head of the government, Sarra Zaâfrani Zenzri, at the Palais de Carthage, according to a press release from the presidency.
In a national context marked by multiple economic, social and institutional challenges, the Head of State stressed that the only effective response to crises is to face them with determination, whatever the origin. He warned that “those who nourish the illusion of going backwards are deeply mistaken”, recalling that the Tunisian people have clearly expressed their will to turn the page of a system which he rejects.
Kais Saied also insisted on the need to renew the political and administrative elites, by giving their chance to young graduates, even in the absence of a long experience. What matters above all, according to him, is the sincere commitment to the fatherland.
“Tunisia needs today men and women animated by unwavering patriotism, and not people in search of privileges, who consider state institutions as a booty to exploit,” he said.
This discourse is part of the continuity of the president’s vision for an in -depth reform of the Tunisian legal and political framework, with the aim of re -reinforcing the state on the basis of integrity, responsibility and popular sovereignty.
A clear message to opponents and nostalgic for the old system
The president thus seems to send an unequivocal message to his critics and supporters of a return to the old political order. For him, the dynamics of change is engaged, and popular support in favor of this transformation remains, according to his words, a determining factor.
