President Kaïs Saïed welcomed Algerian Prime Minister Saïfi Gharib to the Carthage Palace on Thursday, accompanied by Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and Ambassador Azzouz Baalal.
The meeting was held on the eve of the 23rd session of the Tunisian-Algerian Joint High Commission, in a climate marked by the common desire to accelerate strategic integration between the two countries.
Memory political message in Algiers
From the opening of the discussions, Kaïs Saïed recalled the founding moments of Tunisian-Algerian solidarity, particularly during the liberation struggles of the two countries. The Head of State conveyed his greetings to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his wishes for prosperity to the Algerian people.
He insisted on the historical depth of the bilateral bond, stressing that current cooperation is based on political and identity continuity which has shaped the two nations.
A call to accelerate joint projects
President Saïed highlighted the importance of the High Joint Commission as a lever to remove obstacles and quickly bring common projects to fruition. He insisted on the need for joint action, public and private, in the face of rapid geopolitical changes.
The Head of State also reviewed several international files, calling for strengthening consultation between Tunis and Algiers to face global challenges linked to security, international justice and regional stability.
At the end of the meeting, Saïfi Gharib declared having conveyed to President Saïed the greetings of President Tebboune and his desire to strengthen the Tunisian-Algerian strategic partnership. He highlighted the dynamic initiated since the state visit in December 2021, based on supportive and inclusive development.
Heading towards the High Joint Commission and the Economic Forum
The two parties examined the progress of preparations for the meeting of the Joint High Commission scheduled for the following day, considered as an opportunity to update the legal and institutional frameworks for cooperation.
Saïfi Gharib underlined the promising prospects for bilateral trade and investments, recalling that these themes will be at the heart of the Tunisian-Algerian Economic Forum held on the same day with the participation of economic actors from both shores.
