The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, made an unexpected night visit to the city of Mezzouna, where he met several inhabitants and listened to their concerns.
Ali Jeddi, a member of the regional section of the Tunisian Human Rights League, told Mosaic FM that the Head of State has promised to accelerate the equipment and modernization of the local Mezzouna hospital, as well as the revival of the plastic plant, which he considers as one of his absolute priorities. He also undertook to rehabilitate the road network and to create several administrative services, such as a SONEDE antenna (National Société d’Opolment and Distribution of Water), STEG (Tunisian Electricity and Gas Society), among others.
He then went to the families of the victims of the collapse of the wall of the secondary school in Mezzouna to present his condolences to them in the face of this tragedy.
Ali Jeddi added that Kaïs Saïed told the presents that he was already planning to visit Mezzouna, but that he decided to advance his coming by noting the cleaning campaign led by the components of civil society, in cooperation with the municipality and the police.
This visit comes in response to a call launched by the inhabitants of Mezzouna, who had requested the president’s arrival after the drama of the “wall”, while demanding particular attention from the development of the region. Calm has returned to Mezzouna after the demonstrations that had shaken the city since Monday.
